Week 24
February 15-19
Teacher Appreciation Week! February 16th-19th
Help us celebrate by donating snacks. Please click on the link below to let us know what you would like to bring and the quantity so we can ensure we have enough for all of our staff. Snacks can be dropped off Tuesday and Wednesday at the school. There will be a bin on the front porch for snack donations.

We invite families/kids to come decorate the sidewalks with messages of love & appreciation starting tomorrow (Monday)
using chalk on the front steps of the school.
You should have already heard from your homeroom teacher that students will be MAP testing either Feb. 19 – 24 in the morning or afternoon block. Due to many of our teachers administering MAP testing in person, there will be no live instruction on Feb. 19, 22, 23, and 24th from homeroom teachers. Your students will have assignments to complete in Google Classroom on those days. Connections (Art, Music, STEM, and PE) teachers will be assisting with arrival, dismissal and monitoring during MAP testing; therefore, classes will have asynchronous assignments as well. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.
Also, each child will need a bring their school issued device, headphones, a quiet activity to be completed durig down times, such as a book to read or coloring book.
Chromebook Trade-in!!!!
If your student has a black Chromebook computer with silver hinges, you will need to come to the school to trade it in to get a new device. DeKalb has sent us new devices!! These have to be turned in so please make time to come up!
The only devices that need to be traded in are the black Chromebook computers that have silver hinges.

Composition Notebooks
Henderson Mill Elementary School is collecting Composition Notebooks for our students to use as
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) journals.
In order to maintain STEAM certification, our awesome educators have to go through a very rigorous review process. One of the requirements is that every student must maintain a STEAM notebook throughout the year, to demonstrate how STEAM principles
are interwoven into every aspect of their curriculum.
If you have any extra composition notebooks lurking in your closets (wide or college ruled, doesn’t matter) – please consider dropping them into the labeled plastic bin at the school entry at your convenience. Feel free to purchase new and donate as well if you would like to help!
Thanks so much for your support!
