Henderson Mill Elementary – Week 34 – May 2, 2021

Week 34

Reminder – As we continue in our hybrid model of learning, I wanted to remind our in-person families and students that students are expected to attend school daily.  Students should not switch back and forth.  As in the past, an in-person student should only be absent if they have a personal illness, death in the family, quarantining and/or religious holiday.

Attending in-person regularly is the expectation.  If a student is not attending in-person, they are considered absent due to the reason listed above.

Lost and Found

As we remain mindful of the current Covid pandemic, there will be no “Lost and Found”.  Please be sure to put your child’s name on all of their personal items.  Lost items will be donated if not claimed by the end of the week.  Label everything!!

Our Future Looks Bright

Eager to give back and get involved in your elementary school, but worried about other obligations and lack of time? The HMES Foundation may be an excellent fit for your enthusiasm and talents.

The Foundation is the fundraising arm for HMES and our focus is supporting innovative educational programming for our students and staff (STEM/STEAM: Small Fry, Legos, Alliance) that makes our children’s education so rounded and unique. Additionally, the Foundation helps support our teachers through professional development and stipends, as well as funding facilities and grounds improvements (Teacher’s Lounge; TV station; STEM lab; Garden).

The HMES Foundation would like to welcome new board members for this upcoming school year. We are a diverse group of parents and staff members and we typically meet 6 times a year for one hour in the evening, to accommodate everyone’s work schedules. Thank you all for making this year’s March Mania so successful!

Please reach out to us with any questions or interest – we would love for you to be a part of this terrific group.

Cheers, the HMES Foundation Co-Presidents:

Abby Mowinski ([email protected]) and Kristen Bryant ([email protected])

A Note from the Nurse

A Note from the School Nurse: Hearing & Vision tests are underway for all face-2-face, 3rd grade students at Henderson Mill. If you would like your virtual 3rd grade learner to receive a FREE hearing and vision assessment by our school nurse, please contact Nurse Bower at 678-874-3107 or [email protected]. This is OPTIONAL for virtual third graders. Parents will not receive any communication from the nurse if thier child passed the hearing and vision tests; however, if your child is identified as someone who might need further evaluation from a doctor, you will receive a letter which will be sent home at the end of next week (May 7th). Thank you!
