Mr. Green’s Letter – December 1, 2017

Dear Henderson Mill Community,

As the days grow shorter and the weather gets colder, I often look for opportunities to spend time with family.  Gathering around warm fireplaces, sipping hot chocolate, and enjoying comfort food together, that’s what this time of year is all about.  I’m sure that you feel similarly.  At this coldest, darkest time of year, families decorate with lights and surround themselves with warmth.

One thing that brings me warmth and joy is being with our diverse, energetic student body, with our dedicated, passionate teachers, and with our second-to-none support staff.  They, along with you, truly make Henderson Mill the best school.  Over the past three weeks, we have welcomed in educators from across the State to see STEAM in action on four separate occasions.  Our Superintendent, Dr. Green, also came by with his Community Advisory Board.  We are consistently inspiring others to make a shift in instruction, encouraging other educators to dig deeper, to integrate the STEAM disciplines, and to truly engage their students in meaningful, purposeful work.  Together, we have achieved so much and are looking forward to more great achievements on the horizon.

Over these next three weeks prior to the holiday break, we have a few opportunities for you to pull together with your family, the HMES family.  So consider joining us and inviting your friends and neighbors to join us as well.

  • Holiday Concert with our Band, Orchestra, and Chorus – December 5th at 6 PM
  • Community Open House – December 8th, 8 – 10 AM
  • Chick Fil-A Spirit Night with PTA – December 12th, 5:30-7:30 PM
  • Candlelight Luncheon – See attached for exact times – December 14th
  • Awards Ceremony/End of the Semester Celebrations – Throughout the day on December 20th

Come warm up with some HMES joy!  The holidays just aren’t the same without your family!

To quality relationships,

Mitch
