Dear Henderson Mill Community,

Happy New Year! It’s just amazing how quickly our vacation days fly by and also how efficiently our learning community gets right back down to business with renewed energy and enthusiasm!  It’s one of the many great things about Henderson Mill Elementary School.  We take time to celebrate our successes at the end of the semester with our class parties and our award ceremonies.  We rest, relax, and rejuvenate, and our teachers, staff, and students come back ready to dive right in with a clear focus on teaching and learning.  Here at HMES our holidays were very successful.  The HMES community provided holiday gifts and food to 13 of our neediest families.  Under the leadership of our Beta Club we donated two giant, overflowing barrels of non-perishable food.  We should be so proud of our diverse community, coming together to realize the true meaning of the holidays, giving to others in need.

Now the holidays are behind us.  It’s time to return to the typical schedule, to focus inward, and to give of ourselves to those who are most important in our lives, our children.  At HMES we have many opportunities to demonstrate learning, to explore new avenues, and to celebrate our students’ success.  Below are a few of our upcoming events:

• STEM Night – 1/30 @ 5:15 PM (Preordered Food at 5:15 PM, Partner Recognition at 6 PM, and program to begin at 6:20 PM)
• Variety Show Dinner and Show – 2/9 @ 5:30 PM
• Black History Event – 2/27 @ 6 PM
• Fine Arts Night – 3/27 @ 6 PM

Every month we welcome you in to showcase the great things that we have going on at HMES every day.  Please join us to celebrate your students’ learning, to experience their talents, and to support those who are most important in our lives, your children.

What else can you do to help?  Share with your neighbors all that is great about HMES!  Invite them to join us on Friday morning, 2/2 @ 8 AM for our next Community Open House.  Whether they have young children or not, let them know that we are opening our doors for them to see that excellence lives at Henderson Mill Elementary!  On March 2^nd, we’ll have our Kindergarten registration as we begin to gear up for the 2018-19 school year.

Add a resolution to your list.  Commit yourself to dedicating more time to your children through your work with us at Henderson Mill.  Thank you for being an active part of our community.  The rewards of doing so are priceless!
