Principal’s Message August 17, 2018

Dear Henderson Mill Family,

As we complete our second week of school and settle into our school routines, I want to remind everyone that students are tardy at 7:45 and ALL students must be walked in the building after 7:45 and signed in by a parent.  There is great teaching going on in our classrooms and we would not want your child to miss a minute of instruction.  Please support us in having your child here on time.

Testing

We have already started MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) and F&P testing this year.  These assessments allow teachers to better determine your child’s strengths and weaknesses, so classroom teachers can differentiate instruction in the classroom to meet your child’s academic needs. Most testing sessions last 30 to 45 minutes.  This testing will take place for the next two weeks. Your child’s teacher can provide you their specific date and time of testing.

Safety

Carpool drop off and dismissal should take place in one line.  Due to safety concerns, parents should not go around cars in the carpool lane or form a double line.  Please prepare to wait in line before proceeding through the carpool line.  I encourage all parents to place your car seats on back right side of the car so that all students can exit cars on the curb.  It is not safe for students to get out and walk around cars.

We would also like all students to wear closed toed shoes for both PE and recess. It is very dangerous for students to have their toes exposed during the day and closed toes shoes will limit injuries to our little toes.  I also encourage all students to bring a water bottle due to the warm temperatures.

Title I Stakeholder Meeting/Curriculum Night

Mark your calendar!!!  Title I Stakeholder Meeting/Curriculum Night is Tuesday, August 21 at 5:15 p.m. We invite all parents to come out and learning more about your child’s academic day.  We will meet briefly in the cafeteria and then proceed to your child’s classroom.  As you know parking is limited and we encourage you to park in the Bambanelli’s or Allergy and Asthma parking lot up the street and walk up to the school.  We look forward to seeing you on Curriculum Night!!
