Principal’s Message September 14, 2018

It’s hard to believe a month of school has already gone by.  The days are flying by.  I would encourage all of you to spend a few moments each day with your son or daughter and have them share one positive thing about their day.  It could be as simple as learning a new word that day, sharing a smile with friend or helping someone pick up their crayons off the floor.  Conversations help to develop vocabulary, speaking and thinking skills which allow your child to better communicate with others. Spending time talking with your child not only develops your child’s communication skills but it’s fun.

Book Fair

A child’s reading skills are important to their success in school.  Reading opens all kinds of doors to new worlds and we encourage all students to read each night. A great way to find new books to read and support Henderson Mill is by supporting the Book Fair.  Family Night is Friday, September 14 and the Book Fair will be open until Wednesday, September 19.  Studies have shown that reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children’s educational performance so come on out and enjoy a good book.

Congratulations to the Red Bus for earning bus of the month for August.
