Henderson Mill Elementary Parents/Guardians:

Good afternoon, and I hope that your families have had an enjoyable Spring Break.  The purpose of this letter is to provide you with an update regarding the awning in front of Henderson Mill Elementary and access to the school’s front entrance.

Based upon the review conducted by structural engineers, the front entrance to Henderson Mill will now be accessible to staff, students, and parents beginning on April 12, 2021, and the side entrance will no longer need to be utilized as a main entryway.  It should be noted that the damaged area of the awning will continue to be cordoned off as recommended by DCSD Operations and the structural engineers.  The District will move through all relative processes associated with the damage to the awning, including addressing insurance claims and then determining the most appropriate next steps for the structure.  New information will be shared as it becomes available.
